A Framework to Navigate Eco-Labels in the Textile and Clothing Industry

Considering the increasing demand for more sustainable products across many industries, eco-labels are a useful tool communicating sustainability-related performance of product to eco-conscious consumer. However, abundance different and lack harmonization concerning their assessment methods can hamper effectiveness. To address these shortcomings, this paper considers employed by in textile clothing industry assess sustainability-based products. Using sample 10 from Ecolabel Index, new framework classifying based on is developed. The includes two categories label assignments ((i) binary (ii) levels performance) six types methods. These characterized according decision support features labels, such as lists mandatory criteria, minimum (average) scores, percentage weighting sub-categories. proposed shows benefits cascading science notions eco-labeling domain. It provides harmonized vocabulary components (i.e., roadmap) perform consistent traceable advancement eco-labels. Consequently, it be expanded at present allow classification other beyond.
